Shamila is a Clinical Psychologist registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Shamila’s therapeutic approach centres on creating a space that feels genuinely human and approachable. Using tools, strategies and insights rooted in evidence based therapy, she helps clients to make meaningful changes.
Shamila has experience in working with clients across the lifespan, particularly for individuals from age 16. Prior to working in private practice settings, she had worked in hospital and community mental health settings.
Shamila has various areas of clinical interests. These include Mood and Anxiety disorders, Personality Disorders, Trauma (including PTSD) and Complex Trauma, substance use concerns, psychosis/schizophrenia, challenges in relation to cultural and ethnic identity, neurodivergence within a neuro-affirmative framework, and significant major life changes.
When working with clients, Shamila works to facilitate a collaborative therapeutic relationship. She appreciates that every individual comes with their own story, and as such she provides tailored treatment plans in line with her clients’ goals. Shamila also enjoys equipping her clients with psychoeducation, aiming to empower them in understanding their experiences and underlying factors that maintain this.
In addition to therapy, Shamila also provides formal diagnostic assessments of mental health conditions, such as Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), and other personality disorders.
